One plus one can be greater than two

A partnership can be an excellent way to build a business. Two people with complementary skills can team up to do something neither one could do alone.

Partnership problems are also common. We have seen friendships and families torn apart by disputes between partners, and well-known voices like Dave Ramsey have spoken out against partnerships altogether. Most of those problems can be prevented with planning.

Don't leave it to chance. Make your partnership plan at the beginning, while everyone is optimistic and hopeful, so you avoid tension and stress later, when emotions can tear things apart.

How we build your founders' agreement

Step 1

Each partner watches a short class

It walks through the decisions that most often split partners later: ownership, who decides what, pay, and what happens when someone wants out.

Step 2

You complete a worksheet together

You answer those questions as a team, while you still agree, instead of finding out years from now that you each assumed something different.

Step 3

We turn your answers into an agreement

Your attorney drafts a founders' agreement from the worksheet and makes it part of the company's operating documents.

Who this is for

Two or more people starting a business together in Texas. Most partners set up an LLC, and the operating agreement is where your partnership terms live. Launch Basic covers the company setup, the operating agreement, and the founders' agreement in one package.

He wasn’t trying to sell me something I didn’t need, but instead gave advice that was truly in my best interest.

What happens when you click Start

A short online form asks about your business and each owner, then opens secure checkout. You see the state filing fee before you pay. If anything is unclear, call (512) 881-1117 or book a free consultation instead.

The questions partners skip, and pay for later

1

A 50/50 split with no tiebreaker

Equal owners can get stuck. Decide now how you will settle a vote you cannot agree on.

2

Different ideas about who does the work

One partner brings money, the other brings time. Write down what each person contributes and how each gets paid.

3

No plan for someone leaving

Retirement, a move, or a new job happens. Agree on how a departing partner is bought out while you are still on the same page.

4

A generic operating agreement

A template does not know your deal. Your agreement should reflect the answers you and your partner actually gave.

Partnership agreement questions

What is a founders' agreement?
It records the decisions you and your partner make together about ownership, decisions, pay, and what happens if someone leaves. We draft it from the worksheet you complete and make it part of your company's operating documents.
Do we need an LLC to have a partnership agreement?
No, but most Texas partners use an LLC because it limits personal liability. In an LLC, your partnership terms live in the operating agreement. We talk through the right structure in your consultation.
How much does it cost?
Launch Basic is $195 per month for five months. For two or more owners, the total is $1,170, which includes the $195 one-time founders' agreement. The Texas state filing fee of $324, including the processing charge, is extra.
We already have an LLC. Can you still help?
Yes. Call us and we will look at what you have. Updating your operating documents is often the right fix, and we will quote it before any work starts.
Do both partners need to be involved?
Yes. Each partner watches the class, and you complete the worksheet together. The agreement only works if it reflects what both of you decided.
